Life At the turn of the millennium when Mohamed Ali, was adjudicated as the greatest sportsperson of the century, I was overjoyed. Perhaps die hard fans like me would have been the happiest than even Ali when the group of eminent sportspersons voted him as the greatest .Ali was a childhood hero to me, his supreme confidence, speed in the ring and courage of conviction in taking on the establishment endeared him to all. And I am happy that Ali is maintaining the same stature and decorum in life after his sporting days. Would feel lucky if I could meet him someday!

Wonders Some of my Asian friends during college days and now at work place had spoken so colorfully about the Taj Mahal in India. Fascinated by their account have collected great many details on the wonderful monument including pictures. And I have also made it a habit to enquire to visitors to India if they had been to the Taj. And if they answer in the affirmative, get more first hand information from them. Though I planned to visit the beautiful Taj Mahal a few years back with my wife, unfortunately it did not materialize, but am hopeful that would happen sometime.

World Peace The infamous Army exercises in Iraq, in pursuit of the non existing weapons of mass destruction put many of us in distraught. Of course while not holding any brief or sympathy for the Saddam Hussein administration, as person with a strong sense of civil rights, the escapades in Iraq left a strong tinge of bitterness in me. How can one in a civil society think of going to war on another nation? I believe that defense preparedness is only a deterrent action and not meant to flaunt it heroically. And less said the better of the treatment the American troops meted out to the POWs.

Lessons Of Life! There is a silver lining behind every dark cloud, so too behind the current recession that has plagued the US and the world economy for the last 15 months or so. Firstly the inflated market assumptions stand to correct, which is a long term good. It has been a wake up call to the banking sector and hopefully management students would do case studies and ensure the failed assumptions in lending are never repeated again. The real estate cost would be once again reasonable and affordable to all sections of the society. The government having learnt a bitter lesson would not be complacent next time.
